Dates:

Thursday, 7 September 2006

 to

Sunday, 10 September 2006

Starting at 14:00    Finishing at about 14:00

Living the Magnificat, the title of this year's conference, focuses on the theme of social justice. It will create a dialogue between activists, theologians and participants to help us explore themes such as:

· Human rights, the politics of faith and catholic theology

· Social exclusion: do Church and state agendas clash or cohere?

· Anglo-catholicism and the social gospel

· Developing world agendas and racial justice at home: are we scratching the surface?

Speakers include radical Roman Catholic theologian, James Alison, who will give the key-note address; Shami Chakrabati, Director of the UK human rights group, Liberty; Professor Linda Hogan from the Irish School of Ecumenics; Fran Becket OBE, Church Urban Fund; Bishop Stephen Cottrell; and Bishop Michael Doe, General Secretary of USPG. .

The venue is St Chad’s College, in the ancient and beautiful city of Durham. The College has recently been refurbished to make all the conference areas fully accessible. Single and double rooms are available, as well as rooms for those with special needs.

The conference takes place over the feast of the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There will be a rich mix of worship from a solemn Mass for the feast day to alternative worship led by emerging Church, MOOT. And to top it all, we’ll celebrate being together with a Ceilidh!

Full fee: £285.00
