LAMBETH CONFERENCES

Every 10 years, the Archbishop of Canterbury invites the bishops of the Anglican Communion to Canterbury to attend a Lambeth Conference.

The Anglican Communion first began to address lesbian and gay sexuality at the Lambeth Conference of 1978, passing a resolution but failing to take further action.

The bishops returned to the issue of lesbian and gay sexuality at the Lambeth Conference 1988, but again failed to act on the resolution passed.
